Imbolc is the first of my Celtic Festival Series instruments and is a short scale travel cittern that can be easily carried around and is ideal for use in crowded sessions. With 605mm scale length and 16 frets clear of the body, which gives great upper neck access, it can be tuned a range of different cittern tunings depending on which strings you use. I use GDADE tuning with 0.011", 0.012", 0.016", 0.029"s and 0.039"w unison pair. strings. It is available in a range of interesting back/sides and top woods. Backs are usually four piece and depending on wood choice the tops are 2 or 4 pieces. See the Options page for details. Imbolc pictured here is a European spruce top, Cuban mahogany back and sides with Rupola lacewood bindings.
You can hear a sound clip of the Imbolc pictured here.
