I had the privilege and pleasure to work and live in Ireland for two or three years recently, and apart from learning to drink Guiness properly, fell under the spell of the romanticism and love of language of the Irish. Of course I needed to know what my name would be in Irish. In typically Irish fashion,I found out during a Pub Quiznight in the National Yacht Club in Dun Laoghaire, when I was reborn as Daithi De Faoite. That was it! In a choice between "White Stringed Instruments" and "De Faoite Stringed Instruments" there was no contest! So there you have it.
Many thanks to Kevin Bonner for enlightening me and kindly writing out my name in his own fair hand (see below).
P.S. Guitar makers worry lots about their guitars drying out too much and the terrible consequences that follow - fat chance in Ireland!
